Life Balloon
The red one earns you 1 life, the green earns you two, and the rare blue balloon earns you 3 lives. Note that most of these balloons float away if not grabbed quickly.
DK Barrel
This barrel contains your partner. If you already have Diddy and Donkey, this barrel will contain nothing. You can also use this as a weapon.
Banana
These items are scattered throughout Donkey Kong Country. Collect 100 of these to earn 1 extra life.
Banana Bunch
Each one of these is worth 10 bananas on the normal levels, and may vary on the bonus levels.
Kong Letter
Collect all four of these in a stage to get an extra life. It comes in four letters, K, O, N, and G. Collecting all letters will get you the word KONG.
Animal Token
Comes in Rhino, Ostrich, Frog, or Swordfish designs. Collect 3 of the same animal token to access a Bonus Stage.
Mini Animal Token
You can find plenty of these in the Animal Bonus Stages. Every 100 of these earns you 1 life.
Animal Idol
It's larger than your playing animal. This token can be found hidden in the Animal Bonus Stages. It will multiply your Mini Animal Token collection by two.
Animal Crate
This crate contains an animal buddy. The symbol outside of the crate shows the content.
Star Barrel
This barrel once touched will enable you to continue from its location. This barrel can usually be found in the middle of a stage.
